THE WEDDING IS OFF!!!

Unfortunately, I have not received my fiance visa in time to get married on the 30th May 2009 in the UK as planned. I am a little tired of the drama, and don't even want to think about what's next. BUT.... life goes on and i'm sure that everything will work out for the best in the end.

Easter Cupcakes

Look what I am making for easter...

cupcakes will be for my grandma and grandpa
my aunty, cousin and little cousinettes....
maybe even some for me and my mum
(when i don't feel like being on a wedding diet.

Recipe:
Makes 12

Ingredients

* 325g unsalted butter, softened
* 1 cup (220g) caster sugar
* 1 1/2 cups (225g) self-raising flour, sifted
* 3 eggs
* 1 tsp vanilla extract
* 1/2 cup (125ml) milk
* 3 cups (450g) icing sugar, sifted
* Food colouring of your choice
* 12 coloured chocolate Easter eggs, to garnish

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 190°C. Line a 12-hole, 1/3-cup (80ml) muffin pan with paper cases.
2. Place 225g butter in a food processor with the caster sugar, flour, eggs, vanilla extract and 1/4 cup (60ml) milk. Process until the mixture is smooth, then divide among the muffin cases. Place in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until risen and golden.
3. Meanwhile, to make the icing, place the icing sugar, remaining 100g of butter and remaining 1/4 cup milk in the bowl of an electric mixer. Beat on medium-high speed for about 5 minutes or until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add a few drops of food colouring of your choice and beat to combine.
4. Remove the cupcakes from the oven, allow to cool slightly, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. When cakes are cool, scoop the icing into a piping bag with a star nozzle, then use to ice cakes. Garnish each one with an Easter egg, then serve.

Living Rooms I like

Urban Romance Bedroom Style

I am currently updating our gift registry for our upcoming wedding.
When thinking about starting a new home with my hubby to be, I have often wondered if we would differ on decorating Ideas. He always said that with home decor, I could choose colours etc. but I have discovered that he actually has very definite sense of what he likes. Imagine my delight when the only duvet cover we both liked on the John Lewis Gift List was the same one!!!

It's silver satin... so I have started gathering Ideas for bedroom decor...
i am thinking along the lines of grey/silver, black and white, with some browns to make the room less 'cold' and more homely...quite urban style... here are some images I really like at this point.

some more lovely ideas...
I mean he LOVES all the modern looking furniture, and what's fab is that he builds it! I mean i love it too, but i would probably like to throw in a few romantic twists... like the female, softer side...
Like yin and yan i guess, balancing and complementing each other.

He has told me that he's bought a new bed!
So We have a bed! yay...
and now when I move in after the wedding, it's just all the bed linen that we need
hopefully we will get plenty as Wedding Presents...

Ideas Ideas Ideas...
It's hard to predict what we will receive from a gift list
Other people's priorities may not be our priorities...
but hey, whatever,
at least we get to be together forever....

Miranda Kerr

Okay, Here is a post dedicated to Miranda Kerr, as modified from Wilkipedia...
and the first in a series of some of my favorite Famous Aussies

Facts:
Birth name Miranda May Kerr

Miranda Kerr is an Australian model, best known as one of the Victoria's Secret Angels. She was the first Australian addition to the Victoria's Secret campaign, and was the face of Australian fashion chain Portmans and now David Jones Limited. Kerr entered modeling in the fashion industry in her mid-teens after winning a 1997 Australian nation-wide model search hosted by Dolly magazine and Impulse fragrances.

Kerr was born in Sydney but raised in Gunnedah, New South Wales, a small rural town. She is of Iranian, Serian, Turkish and Filipino decent. During her childhood, Kerr stated she "raced motorbikesand rode horses on [her] grandmother's farm" and describes her early life in the Australian countryside as "very grounding ... there wasn't any pretentiousness and no one really cared what you were wearing. You could just be you." Her family moved to Brisbane to allow Kerr and her brother to experience city life. She graduated from All Hallows' School and planned to study nutrition before pursuing modeling.

At age thirteen, Kerr entered and won the 1997 annual Dolly Magazine/Impulse Model Competition. She was flown to Sydney a week before her fourteenth birthday to shoot for the magazine. Upon Kerr's win, local media expressed "concerned outrage" at her young age. The controversy raised concerns about the glorification of young girls within the fashion, beauty, and entertainment industries. Some conservative media outlets claimed her Dolly shoot (including images of a fourteen-year-old Kerr in bathing suits) constituted a form of child pornography.

After signing to Chic Management's Sydney division. She received considerable commercial exposure. She completed a series of beachwear ads predominantly for Australian surf chain Billabong, in which Kerr modeled surf brands Tigerlily, Roxy, Billabong Girls and One Teaspoon. This increased her profile in the Australian and Asian markets, after which Kerr relocated to New York.

Once in New York, Kerr had a multitude of runway appearances, and then signed with Next model agency in early 2004. From there, she was booked for runway and print campaigns for major labels, including Alex Perry, Ayyıldız, Baby Phat, Lisa Ho, Voodoo Dolls, Levi's, Bettina Liano, Nicola Finetti, L.A.M.B., Heatherette, Betsey Johnson, Trelise Cooper, Jets, John Richmond, Blumarine Swimwear, Neiman Marcus,
Seafolly Swimwear, Anna Molinari, Rock and Republic and Roberto Cavalli.
She was also booked for print in magazines such as Elle, Australian Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, and was featured in television advertisements for brands like Portmans, Bonds and Veet.

In 2006, Kerr broke into the United States market when she signed a lucrative cosmetics contract with Maybelline New York. The campaign ran in a series of internationally sold women's beauty magazines, including Cosmopolitan, CLEO and Elle, and was eventually featured in Victoria's Secret catalogues. Following her success with Maybelline, Kerr became the first Australian model to be offered a contract with Victoria's Secret and upon her acceptance, the first ever Australian Victoria's Secret Angel,joining the stable of models already signed to the lingerie giant, including Gisele Bündchen, Alessandra Ambrosio, Karolína Kurková, Adriana Lima, Selita Ebanks, Izabel Goulart, and Heidi Klum.

Kerr's popularity continued to increase as one of the globally recognized Angels when she appeared in the Victoria's Secret 2006, 2007 and 2008 televised runway shows, which aired on four continents.

By 2007, Kerr had signed on as the face of Californian fashion retailer Arden B. After debuting in their Spring and Summer ad campaigns, Kerr returned for their Fall 2007 campaign, shot by fashion photographer Diego Uchitel. She has also become the new face of Clinique Happy, and signed a lucrative six-figure deal to be the new face of Australian department store David Jones, replacing model Megan Gale.

In 2008, earning an estimated $3.5 million in the past 12 months, Forbes placed Kerr tenth in the list of the world's top-earning models.

Kerr (along with several other Victoria's Secret and Next agency models) was featured in a music video for American hip-hop artists Kanye West and Pharrell' single Number One. Following her modeling success with Victoria's Secret, Kerr made a small guest appearance in the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother alongside
fellow Angels Adriana Lima, Marisa Miller, Heidi Klum, and Selita Ebanks.

Kerr is dubbed "the next MacPherson". Kerr's model trademark is her dimples.
Celebrity photographer Russell James said of Kerr, "The US has fallen in love with her. We love her because she has the most incredible girl-next-door look and she's also insanely beautiful. It means women are not intimidated by her looks and guys think they might be able to talk to her. It's a fantastic combination ... people want to be around her; she's fun on a shoot … and she's not stupid, which can be a very annoying trait among some models."

Kerr's charitable work includes Wildlife Warriors Worldwide and Children International.

In 2003, Kerr began dating finance broker Adrian Camilleri. Following an Australian Securities and Investments Commission investigation, Camilleri was found guilty on five counts of fraudulent behaviour spanning between February 2003 to February 2004. Kerr subsequently ended the relationship. 2007 reports claim Kerr suffered financially "after taking her boyfriend's financial advice" but chose not to take legal action.

Kerr practices Nichiren Buddhism — a Japanese branch of the Buddhist religion — and believes "we have a responsibility to bring peace and harmony to our lives and the world." As part of her Nichiren beliefs, Kerr reportedly chants every morning and night for 20 minutes, practices yoga, meditates and reads widely on spirituality.

According to a Victoria's Secret profile on Kerr, posted on the CBS YouTube page, Kerr's described her take on life as "enjoying wherever it is [I am] and trying to be in the moment as much as possible". As reported in 2007, Kerr is writing an inspirational self-esteem self-help book called Treasure Yourself aimed at the female teenage demographic. Kerr says, "Basically, it's a whole lot of
information that I've found, that has helped me. If I can help one girl by doing this then I've completed my purpose."

In late 2007, Kerr began dating actor (and fellow practicing Buddhist) Orlando Bloom.

On February 12, 2009 Kerr actively participated in the 'Australia Unites' fundraiser to raise support for the victims of the Australian bushfires on 7 February 2009.

Megan Gale: Iconic Aussie Ambassadors

Second in a series of some of my favourite aussie girls who have done us proud:

Megan Gale: Taken largely from Wikipedia
Birth name Megan Gale
Date of birth 7 August 1975 (1975-08-07) (age 33)
Place of birth Perth, Australia
Height 1.81 m (5 ft 11+1⁄2 in)
Hair color Brown
Eye color Green
Spouse(s) Andy Lee (currently dating)

Born in Perth, Western Australia, Gale is of half-British, half-Polynesian heritage and is the youngest of three children, one of them being an older brother. She lived in Fremantle as a child,going to John Curtin Senior High School in her teenage years.

Megan Gale has been described in an article as "Italy's hottest star since Sophia Loren" whilst Roselyn Della Sabina (a singer songwriter) was named next after Megan Gale.

At 24, while studying at university, she won a modeling competition and was cast by Australian casting director Toni Higginbotham, to appear in a series of advertisements for the Italian telecommunications commercials, Omnitel (now Vodafone Italy); she appeared in the company's advertising from 1999 until nowadays. She was also retained by the Australian Tourist Commission in 2003 as 'their face of Australia in Italy'.

Gale has modeled for Italian fashion houses such as Genny and favors many Australian designers, such as Akira Isogawa, Sass & Bide, and Alex Perry. Recently she was the fashion commentator for the Australian television awards, the Logies. She was the face of the upmarket Australian department store David Jones. Gale's appearances on the catwalk in the famous annual fashion parades are extremely popular and she has helped to raise David Jones's profile to the younger market and trendy fashion designers.

In January 2008, Gale announced her retirement from catwalk modeling after 15 years and strutted down the catwalk for the last time just weeks later at a David Jones winter collection launch in Sydney. She has since been replaced by Victoria's Secret Angel Miranda Kerr.

Megan Gale also tried her hand at acting and appeared in the movies Vacanze di Natale and Stregata Dalla Luna. She also won a cameo part in the 2005 movie Stealth where she played a role as Dr. Orbit's secretary. In January 2008, it was announced that she had been offered the part of Wonder Woman in the upcoming George Miller movie version of Justice League of America before the project was permanently shelved.

In 2005, Gale became a guest reporter for Nine Network travel show Getaway from October 2005 to June 2006. She also worked with Mike Munro as co-host of the nine-episode Australian documentary TV show What a Year, which first aired on the Nine Network on October 2, 2006. In 2007, their respective replacements were Bert Newton and Julia Zemiro and the show has since been axed.

Melbourne Memo #6

I can't believe i woke up at 4:30am!
it's just crazy!!! i feel really tired but i can't sleep might be because i have to make a decision regarding whether i stay in Melbourne with nomes or go home to the sunshine coast with my lovely sister Teija.
Yesterday, I was definitely leaning towards staying here for another week... but after talking to Teija, and tossing and turning over it all night, I actually think I will go home! But I have not told Nomes yet!
My number one rationale for my decision is that Tei is moving to Canada in three weeks! this may be the last time i properly get to spend time with her. She needs to organize loads of things and i really want to be there to help, and be a good sister, which in the past I have not Always been. It also going to be cheaper for me, and actually all my documents will be posted there when a decision is made regarding my visa. Only thing is I have to book a flight, and I'm not that financially topped up!I'm also hoping i don't have too much luggage! I guess i could leave some here with Nomes... It is playing on my mind, and not sure that i like it! I have prayed about it, and I really feel like I am meant to go...So that's decided then...

Today I'm looking forward to having Brunch with some of Naomi's friends which she informs me is SO the thing to do in Melbourne. Then We will be heading to the Queen Victoria Market... I am going to buy a candle and some fresh flowers to put in my hostel room! get some ZEN in my life...
and I need to post this cute-as postcard to my fiancé....

Actually I might just talk to my honey right now!!! He sent me an text message at 5am Aussie time to let me know he's gotten a web cam (finally) and he's going to IKEA Southampton to pick up a new bed frame!!!

yay =0) how exciting!
Wish i was going to Ikea coz they have loads of decor that i want to buy for the reception tables!!! which reminds me I need to brainstorm about decoration for the whole wedding day, now that we've had to change venues for our reception

... UPDATE...
The day was fantastic, I met Nomes' friend Damien and love him! instantly clicked =0)
Visited The Queen Victoria Markets, which were ok, found my perfect candle which was apricot and cocoa scented

This is just outside the queen vic. markets - just so gorgeous (i'm so not used to sunshine! haha, makes me feel sooooo happy =0)

Cruised around town... loved the art!

Lit my lovely new candle and found a cute-as vase for the flowers which fill my soul with joy.... actually i slept like a baby and recovered from a splitting headache...
